We had a number of contractors come out to give us a quote. Andrew is very knowledgeable and his integrity is impeccable. He didn’t hesitate to tell us about more affordable options than we were previously considering, even when they would make less money for Klimatology.
He took many more measurements and was far more thorough than other estimators that came out. We asked all the contractors if they would be doing a Manual J calculation of our load needs based on the unique particulars of our house (old house but we’ve done a lot of energy efficiency retrofits) so that we don’t end up with short AC cycles and high humidity in the summer time (a current problem for us). Some contractors said they rely on a rule of thumb for right-sizing. Others said they would use software to make a calculation but took no measurements. When we asked Andrew about Manual J calcs, he is the only who said “of course, we always do that”. He was the only one that took all the measurements necessary to do a full Manual J calculation.
With Andrew’s assistance, we came up with a stop-gap solution that will allow us to put off the HVAC upgrade until new Federal incentives come into effect next year. So, we haven’t experienced Klimatology’s installation work, yet, but based on Andrew’s work, we will definitely be calling them in the new year.
